Quality Metrology Engineer

The Metrology Engineer is responsible for ensuring that our products and processes meet the highest standards of quality. This involves working closely with our operations teams to identify potential quality issues, develop and implement quality control procedures, and monitor and analyze data to identify trends and areas for improvement.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and implement quality control procedures to ensure that products meet the highest standards of quality
  • Support as lead Metrology Programmer, including developing, validating, executing, and maintaining inspection programs.
  • Serve as a technical resource on automated inspection issues and maintenance
  • Provide training and mentoring of quality functions.
  • Work with suppliers to ensure that their products meet our quality standards
  • Work closely with production teams to identify potential quality issues and develop solutions to resolve them
  • Collaborate with engineers and designers to ensure that products are designed with quality in mind
  • Conduct audits and inspections of products and processes to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations
  • Perform Quality Management System related duties as required.
  • Perform statistical sampling and GR&R analysis
  • Work with Operations to maintain Process Flows, Process Control Plan and FMEA.
  • Manage and/or coordinate process troubleshooting and/or improvement activities.
  • Work with engineers to develop and maintain standards and practices with regards to part set-up and fixturing and measuring techniques.
  • Utilize standard inspection tools to verify parts meet print specifications (calipers, height gages, optical comparators, etc.)
  • Support validations for new and existing products, processes, and equipment.
  • Assist in the identification, investigation, and implementation of CAPA.

 EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field, or 8+ years or equivalent work experience
  • 5+ years of quality experience in a manufacturing setting
  • 5+ years of experience in programming CMMs with PC-DMIS metrology software or equivalent
  • Strong troubleshooting and critical thinking skills to resolve metrology-related issues
  • Advanced knowledge of standard measuring and test equipment
  • Strong knowledge/background of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and blueprint reading skills
  • Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of industry standards and regulations related to quality control procedures and methodologies
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • ISO 9001 experience or similar
