Quality Control Engineer

The Quality Control Engineer is responsible for completing quality-related activities.  Such activities shall include but are not limited to: in-process inspection, gauge tracking and control, first article inspection, developing inspection plans, inspecting to inspection plans, creating and executing non-conformance and corrective action related documentation, and maintenance of the quality control equipment and areas.

Candidates for this role must be self-driven, have great attention to detail, have hands-on mechanical skills, have good organizational and computers skills, in addition to great teamwork and collaboration skills to interface with our design, manufacturing, and management teams.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Inspection using optical comparator, micrometers, calipers, etc.
  • Inspection using CMM (PC-DMIS)
  • Participate in / lead control plan development
  • Creation of Inspection documentation
  • Tracking and maintenance of gauges via gauge tracking software
  • Perform incoming inspection – verify special process certs, material certs, documentation, as well as physical characteristics against PO requirements
  • Non-conformance related documentation and activities
  • Communicate with Engineering and Manufacturing
  • Support engineering, design, and manufacturing operations as needed
  • Support testing of products to determine product safety, efficacy, and conformity
  • Assist as needed in the maintenance of the quality management system
  • Train manufacturing and quality personnel on proper QC techniques
  • General maintenance and preventative maintenance of QC tools and areas
  • Develop a broad knowledge base of technologies used in the markets served
  • Develop a broad knowledge base of JAKTOOL’s capabilities to support sales
  • Other duties as assigned

SUPERVISORY/MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • As assigned

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:

  • Internal relationships include Operations, Regulatory, Manufacturing, Research & Development, Engineering and Procurement

EDUCATION, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE:

  • A high school diploma is required
  • Hands-on experience in quality control techniques is required
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PC-DMIS, or related measurement software
  • >5 years of on-the-job experience or less, with a degree in an engineering or quality-related field.
  • Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) is a plus
  • Must possess a very high degree of hands-on mechanical aptitude
  • Hands-on shop experience is preferred (manufacturing, fabrication, and assembly)
  • Excellent analytical, communication, teamwork, and organizational skills are essential
  • Good math and computer skills are required
  • Able to lift 50 lbs and remain on your feet for most of the workday
  • Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in required situations
