Test Engineer

Cranbury, NJ

JAKTOOL is looking for a Test Engineer who is responsible for product testing, fixture design, and design improvement. This role works closely with engineering and account management to qualify and execute design inputs, as well as manage external suppliers, vendors, sub-contractors, and internal resources within JAKTOOL.  Candidates for this role must be self-driven, creative, have amazing attention to detail, demonstrate good management skills, as well as great teamwork and collaboration skills to interface with our customers and the rest of our design, manufacturing, and management teams.

Responsibilities

  • Design fixtures and test setups that will make testing complete and more efficient
  • Create test procedures, plans, and reports including, but not limited to Design Verification, Qualification, and Acceptance.
  • Build and test new and existing product designs
  • Support all testing both in house and at outside test facilities
  • Troubleshoot design issues to support engineering
  • Generate action plans and strategies to support and accommodate testing and development of new products
  • Effectively communicate exceptions to established/agreed upon schedules to all affected parties internal/external to the organization
  • Addresses potential issues proactively and applies real-time problem-solving skills to achieve prompt resolution and mitigate program schedule slips.
  • Travel of 25 – 40% to off-site testing facilities is required

  • Passion for defense/small caliber weapons
  • Working knowledge of small caliber weapon operation, safety, and reloading procedures
  • Working knowledge of small caliber weapon and ammunition qualification requirements
  • Experience using standard electrical test equipment (oscilloscopes, multi-meters, data acquisition systems, etc.).
  • Experience handling CUI (Controlled Unclassified Information)

Competencies

  • Strong business and technical communications skills with the ability to work in a team-based setting.
  • Fluency in CAD Software (Solidworks preferred)
  • Good technical writing and documentation practices
  • Possess a high degree of hands-on mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with mechanical system design, design for manufacturing and prototyping
  • Ability to run multiple projects at the same time and on schedule
  • Ability to develop realistic/achievable action plans to support testing strategies
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Able to lift 50 lbs. and remain on your feet for most of the workday
  • Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in required situations

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field required
  • 2 or more years of industry experience with product testing and development (Aerospace or Defense preferred)
